This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) applies to your use of Streamnode’s Services. This AUP forms part of the Terms and Conditions. Capitalised terms have the meaning given in the Terms. If you use our APIs, the API Terms also apply.
You must use the Services lawfully, responsibly, and in a way that does not harm Streamnode, other customers, or third parties.
1. Prohibited Activities
You must not use the Services, or allow others to use the Services through your account, to:
- violate applicable law, regulation, court order, or government requirement;
- infringe intellectual property, privacy, confidentiality, or other third-party rights;
- distribute malware, ransomware, exploit kits, or other harmful code;
- run phishing, fraud, scams, impersonation, social engineering, or deceptive campaigns;
- send spam, abusive bulk messaging, or manipulative traffic schemes;
- host or distribute content that is illegal, defamatory, or unlawfully discriminatory;
- process or distribute illegal sexual content or child exploitative material;
- create open proxies, public relay services, or unauthorised anonymisation services;
- perform credential stuffing, brute-force attacks, password spraying, or account takeover activity;
- conduct unauthorised scanning, vulnerability exploitation, denial-of-service activity, or interference with third-party systems;
- perform unauthorised scraping or extraction at scale that breaches law, contract, or robots restrictions;
- mine cryptocurrency or run resource-draining jobs unrelated to your legitimate workload;
- bypass plan limits, technical controls, or enforcement actions, including by creating duplicate accounts;
- resell or repackage the Services without Streamnode’s written permission;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, account, data, or network.
2. Content Standards
You are responsible for all code, data, files, and other material submitted through your account.
You must ensure your content and workloads:
- are lawful in each jurisdiction where you operate;
- do not infringe third-party rights;
- do not create security or operational risk for the Services.
Streamnode may remove, disable, or block content that we reasonably believe is unlawful, harmful, infringing, or in breach of this AUP or the Terms.
3. Fair Use and Resource Governance
All plans are subject to technical, operational, and fair-use limits. Limits may include request throughput, compute usage, concurrency, storage, transfer, and retention.
To protect platform reliability and security, Streamnode may:
- monitor usage patterns for abuse, outlier behaviour, and operational risk;
- apply automated or manual rate limits, throttling, queueing, or temporary workload pauses;
- require architectural remediation or optimisation before restoring full service;
- require a plan upgrade where usage no longer fits the active plan;
- suspend or terminate workloads or accounts that continue to create material risk.
Circumventing limits or controls is a material breach of the Terms.
4. Hobby Plan Rules
The free Hobby plan is intended for personal, educational, testing, and other non-commercial use.
For Hobby plan workloads:
- production commercial usage is prohibited;
- limits are tighter and protections may trigger earlier than paid plans;
- no uptime commitment or SLA applies;
- workloads may be paused, restricted, or removed where required to protect platform health.
5. Security Research and Testing
Do not test Streamnode infrastructure, endpoints, or customer workloads without prior written permission from Streamnode.
If you discover a potential vulnerability, report it promptly to [email protected] and do not publicly disclose it until Streamnode confirms remediation or authorises disclosure.
6. Enforcement
If Streamnode reasonably believes this AUP or the Terms are being breached, we may take enforcement action, including:
- issuing warnings or requesting corrective action;
- removing or disabling offending content or workloads;
- applying temporary or permanent technical restrictions;
- suspending or terminating part or all of your access;
- reporting illegal activity to law enforcement or regulators where required.
Where practical and appropriate, Streamnode may provide notice and an opportunity to remediate before stronger enforcement.
7. Appeals and Remediation
If you believe enforcement was applied in error, contact [email protected] with:
- account identifier and affected project details;
- timeline and technical context;
- remediation steps already completed.
Streamnode may require reasonable assurances before restoring service.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this AUP from time to time. Updated versions take effect on posting (or on any later date stated in the policy). Continued use of the Services after the effective date means you accept the updated AUP.
